Preparing a Diaper Bag

Packing a diaper bag can be very overwhelming. Especially being a first time parent you just don’t know what you are going to come across out there with your new baby. Here are 10 diaper bag essentials that I thought were necessary to have. Pack these and you will not be left stranded out in the world with your new baby.

1. Lots and Lots of diapers. Try to forecast in your mind how long you will be gone and pack one diaper for each hour of your trip. So if you are going to be gone for a short trip to the mall and you know that normally takes you 2-3 hours I would pack 3 diapers just to be on the safe side.

2. One package of wipes. You don’t want to have to use the provided wipes, If they even do that, in the store or worse off be caught without any wipes. Bring a box of these along to clean your little one’s bottom.

3. Changing pad that folds down. Even though they are included in diaper bags most of the time you still need to make sure it is there and is clean.

4. Diaper Rash Ointment. The last thing you need is your baby to get diaper rash while you are out on a trip and then you have an unhappy baby. Let’s avoid that and bring this ointment along.

5. Extra clothes and 2 Burp cloths. Babies burp up all the time so you need extra burp clothes. Babies also sometimes make messes that come out the front and also the bottom so it is a good idea to have extra clothes around if the mess makes it pass the bib or the diaper.

6. Pack a receiving blanket in case the meteorologist isn’t right and the temperature changes on you. The last thing you want is a chilled baby.

7. Baby Bottle. If you are breast feeding them make sure the milk is fresh. If you are using formula try out the single use packets of formula. They work great for short trips.

8. Toys are a must and do wonders for a crabby kid.

9. If you baby is attached to a certain type of blanket it’s a good idea to bring one of those along to give them a familiar environment.

10. Bring along some big plastic bags to put soiled clothes in and/or dirty diapers.

Contact information is another good thing to have in your bag. A simple business card will work fine. Having a card that has all of your pediatrician’s numbers on it and any other emergency numbers is a good idea also.

Being prepared with all these things in your diaper bag will help to give you some security knowing that you are as prepared as you could be for certain situations.

All these steps seem like a lot to do for just one simple bag. You don’t know it yet but you and this simple bag are going to be spending quite some time together. You best be prepared.

Everything You Need To Know About Endometriosis And Infertility

Depending on which reference source one reads, women with endometriosis have a fertility rate of 50 to 65 percent, whereas the general population of women has a fertility rate of 88 percent. Among women with endometriosis, it is believed that 30 to 50 percent are infertile, although the true incidence of infertility is unknown, For that matter, no one knows the true incidence of infertility in the general population.

The paradox of infertility in endometriosis is that most of the standard medical treatments for the disease are contraceptive. Endometriosis is essentially an estrogen-dependent disease; the drugs used to treat it deplete the body of estrogen and therefore shrink the endometriomata. But pregnancy also is estrogen dependent. So it’s unlikely that you will become pregnant while you are receiving treatment, and when you go off the drugs in an effort to have a baby, your endometriosis will probably get worse again.

To add to the irony, drugs that increase the chance of conception also tend to exacerbate endometriosis. They have other serious side effects as well, so if you feel as though you are between a rock and a hard place, you are.

What’s more, if endometriosis does indeed cause infertility, then eradication of the disease should render a woman fertile. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way. Treatment of mild to moderate disease does not necessarily improve the rate of fertility over doing nothing. You may become pregnant after treatment but according to statistics, the general incidence does not increase. Women who undergo various treatments for endometriosis, and who also are being evaluated for fertility, have variable outcomes in the success of the treatment on fertility. This suggests that endometriosis affects individual women’s ability to become pregnant in different ways.

If the disease is caused by an anatomical abnormality, surgery to correct it may or may not be effective-depending on the skill of your surgeon and whether you develop serious adhesions. If you have the predisposition to endometriosis since you were in your mother’s uterus, chances are the longer you wait, the less likely you are to get pregnant.

If you decide to have surgery (the less invasive the procedure, the greater the chance of preserving whatever fertility you have), timing becomes even trickier. Most physicians believe that there is a postoperative “window of opportunity” that lasts about six to nine months. This is when you luck is at its peak. After about nine months of menstrual periods after surgery, if there are still some endometriomata left in your abdomen, the buildup of scar tissue, cysts, and adhesions will once again impair fertility.

One extremely frustrating thing about endometriosis and infertility is that the disease appears to increase the chance of natural abortion (miscarriage). So there are women who can become pregnant but cannot carry to term. Surgery and medication may help correct this problem, but so far no scientific data exists.

There’s Nothing Like New Baby Clothes to Make Your Baby Look and Feel Good

Before your baby is ever even born, you are running out to the store to buy lots of clothing for it. The mistake most people make is that they buy way too much of the clothing for a newborn and half of it never even gets worn. Instead of wasting all of that money, make sure your new baby clothes will get you through the first year of their fascinating new life.

Finding affordable clothing for your baby, especially when they are just blowing through sizes, can be quite a challenge. We all get caught up in making our child look as cute as possible, but sometimes our wallets and bank accounts take a huge hit in the process. You need to find a place that will allow you to get the latest clothing without having to pay the typical department store prices.

When you see the sale sign up at a big department store, a little digging will probably show that it is not such a sale after all. It is not uncommon for stores to mark items up a week before they plan on having a big sale and that sale price is actually still the regular price that they were getting just a few weeks ago. To avoid this, you can start shopping at online discount clothing stores like Growing Growing Gone.

While we all appreciate hand me downs from our friends to save us some money, nothing is better than finding the perfect outfit that you picked out for your child and dressing them up in it. Instead of knowing that the clothes came from someone else, you beam with pride in the fact that you were able to put this little outfit together.

Shopping on the internet for baby’s clothes takes all of the hassle out of shopping. You no longer have to worry about getting a sitter or dragging your newborn from store to store. All you need is nap time and an internet connection and you are good to go. That hour that they lie down to nap each day is the perfect time to get online and do some shopping.

If you know where to shop, even the latest fashions will not cost you much. Discount online clothing stores for children offer all of the latest clothing without the big price tag that you will see at a store like Macy’s. Even the most budget minded person will be able to find something to make their baby look great.

Most online stores offer the best deals because they cut out the middle man saving you money on all new baby clothes. Online retailers don’t have the overhead of brick and mortar buildings and they don’t have the number of salesmen, rent or the utilities. All of those overhead savings come right to you as the consumer.

It’s convenient to shop online because it’s quick, you can compare more than one store’s offerings and online stores offer fast and free shipping. There’s no need to travel from store to store to shop when everything you’re looking for is available online. So when it comes to making your baby look good with new baby clothes for less, online shopping can save you money and make you proud.

Growing Growing Gone does not even know what full price means. When you are shopping for baby clothes, you will not find better prices for kids clothing than at Growing Growing Gone.
